A foam liner pressed into the interior compresses against the jar rim when the lid is tightened — no heating required. It seals cleanly for cold honey bottling without any additional equipment or process.

The trade-off vs. the metal lid: plastic is not rated for water bath canning temperatures. If you're processing honey or preserves with heat, use the metal lid. For standard cold honey bottling, either works equally well. The plastic lid is lighter, and the white finish can work better against some label designs.
